Al and Martha Chiscon
“Our situation is ideal,” says Al. “In our cottage neighborhood, we have both privacy and camaraderie.“ Al is vice president of the men’s club and Martha is a resident member of the Village Board. “You quickly become family here. You stay connected, which can help extend your life.” The Chiscons had no problems feeling a part of the Westminster Village family. “We felt at home right away,” said Martha. “It was as though we had always lived here. It also gives our children great peace of mind to know we live at Westminster Village. Just two years ago, I underwent knee surgery and was able to do my rehabilitation right here at Westminster Village. It was so convenient for my husband to come and visit me, and still get his meals every day. If we hadn’t lived here, he would have been driving all over town. And I also did not have to worry about any house chores will I rehabilitated.” For the Chiscons, the friendships they have made make all the difference. “Everyone is interested in you here, and it’s so easy to make friends,” Al says. “The staff is wonderful as well. It’s a very resident-driven community. I’m constantly astounded by the little things, like how they weed our garden, help us hang pictures in our cottage, even offer to help put up and take down our Christmas tree if we’re traveling. It’s just wonderful!” Both Al and Martha urge anyone considering this lifestyle to not delay. “What’s great is so many people are moving here at a younger age while they can still enjoy all the wonderful amenities,” Martha says. “That’s smart, because moving isn’t easy and it gets harder as you get older. I say, if you’re even considering this lifestyle in the next five years, put down a deposit now so that when something comes available, you can say yes or no. But don’t wait until suddenly you want to move in next month. Do it now, and start enjoying life more than ever!” |
